Dining at BAR.B.Q. PLAZA with RM10 for RM20 Groupon Cash Voucher

Everybody loves barbeque and steamboat in Malaysia (who doesn't?). Therefore the greatest restaurant invention of all time must be Bar.B.Q. Plaza.

When we first saw the cash voucher, we got soooo excited and immediately bought two vouchers for the four of us. Little did we notice that the voucher was limited to one voucher per table per receipt. Oh wells, we didn't mind separating into pairs.

Groupon review, steamboat
RM10 for RM20 Bar.B.Q Plaza Cash Voucher

We ate dinner here last Thursday, and surprisingly the place was packed on a weekday! Luckily we managed to find a table. What's better was that a SUPER SUPER NICE waiter told us some techniques to use both vouchers while being seated at the same table (our hero!!!)

Here's what we ordered:

The menu.

Can you believe that it is served exactly the same as displayed
in the menu??!!

The fried chicken wings were really yummy.
The flavor, the flour batter, and the sauce were awesome!

BBQ-ing and Steamboat-ing at the same time.

However, none of this would have been complete without their secret weapons.

Taadaaaaa!!!

bbq plaza klang

1. BBQ Plaza's speciality sauce. Added with chilli and garlic for an extra kick!

2. Pork lard. Lard makes everything great ;p

3. Cooking plate. What's so unique about the cooking plate is how the barbeque compartment slants towards the soup compartment. This allows the lard, the flavors from BBQed meat to seep into the soup.

Unfortunately after eating all this with rice, we were still hungry. Thank god for the refillable cabbage! The cabbage went really well with the remaining soup. It made the soup really sweet and tasty.

The receipt added up to RM49.70 (combining two separate receipts). With the two cash vouchers, we only paid RM9.70 extra =D

Dining at Seoul Palace with Groupon Voucher

It's hard to resist the temptation of buying Korean food vouchers. No?

Seoul Palace groupon
RM40 for RM70

Buying was easy, but we spent half an hour calculating how we could maximise the value of the voucher worth RM70. Finally after much debate, we settled on a kimchi jiggae set (RM18), BBQ pork (RM27), manduu (RM12), two rice (RM3 per bowl) and Barley tea (RM1).

The variety of side dishes served was amazing! But they tasted so-so.

Kimchi Jiggae and Manduu (Fried dumpling).
I would say that these two dishes were mediocre.

The best part of dinner was the BBQ Special Marinated Soy Sauce Pork.
My mouth still reeks of garlic *burrps*

Dinner left the three of us with big tummies. The receipt added up to RM70.40. We only paid 40 cents extra :O :O !!!

I would say that this meal is worth the money for 3 people with this cash voucher.

Night Food Hunting in Klang

We have been staying in Klang for about 10 months. So we are considerably seasoned to this area with expectations of us knowing where and what to eat when friends drop by.

Not so true.

Every week we find new and good food, so we can unanimously say it's not only Ba Kut Teh or seafood here in Klang. We are still exploring. Imagine our thrill when Rebecca decided to come over. It was time for us to bring her to eat any thing other than Ba Kut Teh!

Stop #1 - Noble House Seafood

Corner lot restaurant

This, is our new found dinner place! I chanced upon reviews of this restaurant when a friend commented on facebook saying that they sell great Oyster Mee Suah and Tapioca Noodles.

Oyster Loh Mee Suah
RM 17 for Small (Serves 2 - 3 people)

True enough, the mee suah had a soft and smooth texture and it's soup was tasty - just right, not too strong a taste. The dish felt warm like home and was very satisfying.

Chi Hun Gen / Tapioca Noodles
RM 18 for Medium (Serves 3 - 4 people)

The stir fried tapioca noodle called chi hun gen, was very appetizing. It's unlike char kuey teow where you get an oily feel in your mouth with its noodles cut short and clumped together. These tapioca noodles were short and chewy, but did not taste like flour like pan mee. Every bite called for another mouthful!

Dong Po meat with Mantou

We also tried their dong po meat with mantou. Served hot, the meat was soft and not too salty. It did taste a little bland when put with mantou, but it was still good.

Best Tangyuan in Klang!

It's a chinese kopitiam selling myriads of foods. This tangyuan stall in particular, managed by an elderly lady sells the best tangyuan in klang as claimed by many Klang residents. It was not a busy day but we had to wait for 20 minutes for our order to arrive.

popular food in klang
Glutinous rice ball with peanut filling

A whiff of its ginger soup could make us salivate, what more, when drinking it. The broth was spicy and sweet with a strong background taste of pandan leaf and ginger. The glutinous rice ball had a skin not too thick and sufficiently chewy. Its peanut filling was finely grounded with a tinge of coarse pieces of nuts. Overall, the tangyuan was a good package with its soup not seeping through its skin making a good mixture of moistness and dryness in my mouth.

Stop #3 - Fruity Bakery

We were so hopeful to have their 6-foot long apple strudel (very famous!) for dessert but very unfortunately, they were sold out by 8pm. So we bought their cream horn and custard croissant. These pastries did not mend our disappointed taste buds :(

Stop #4 - Coffee Ink

Great drinks selection

This is pretty much the only coffee place that I know of in Klang. It's cosy with a very artistic interior and super friendly staff.

The fair lady with pastries from Fruity Bakery

We were too full so the only drink we ordered was The Fair Lady. It's a white chocolate based drink that I would recommend to anyone who's looking for something sinful but not too sweet! Coffee Ink is currently expanding their premises to the adjacent lot. It's starting to look very pretty and we had a jolly good photo-taking session there!

With so much done within a night from 7pm to 10pm, we were definitely overfed. Oh wells, there's just too much good food around here in Klang!

Helipad @ Heli lounge bar

Wedding helipad
It was like dining on top of the world. It was like love at first sight when we saw this place through pictures. That’s where we chose for a surprise birthday celebration.  Who would ever expect a birthday celebration here? Her reaction was priceless :O :O

it’s open air so be sure to check the weather forecast. You wouldn’t want to go when its going to rain. We check the weather forecast a week before and every hour before we went (So paranoid for perfection, haha). Thank God it didn’t rain, so Happy!! You can make a reservation only if you purchase a bottle of wine. The good thing about making reservation is that you’ll definitely get a seat at the helipad. If not, then go early, maybe around 6pm so that you’ll get a seat. Seats are limited! You wouldn’t want to stand or wait for empty seats (barely any coz people tend to sit and chit-chat). You can only go up to the helipad after 6pm.

To go up to the helipad, you have to purchase any drinks. The cheapest on the menu would be their juices about rm20 and cocktails about rm25. We ordered star kiss, chopper, lychee martini, cranberry juice and white wine. I personally favour their star kiss (their specialty). Its only with your drinks that they allow you to go to the helipad

We were like crazy Asians when we reach the helipad. Within split seconds, all of us were busy with our phones snapping pictures here and there. . A definite MUST to take pictures before sunset. Oh, bring your DSLR or any camera. Don’t rely too much on your phone coz when it gets darker, the photos taken from your phone will be blurry, pixelated and not as great. the view from the helipad is amazing. You get a clear view of the twin tower, KL tower and the city of KL.

Definitely a great place to relax and chill. Bring your date; he/she will definitely be amazed! Its breezy and cooling up there

Their chicken wings are really good so be sure to order them when your there. They are about rm20.
They have dress code policies. For females, probably wear a dress and men probably wear smart casual but no sleeveless attire or short pants. They don’t allow slippers, sandals, flip-flops and crocs.

You can park your car at B3 or B4 of Menara KH (they are for visitors). After 6pm, parking is rm5. Be sure you’re not alone coz the car park is quiet and probably a bit scary. It’s an old building so the parking there is quite narrow.
